What I learned and observed traveling as a People to People Student Ambassador to Europe in 2010 and China in 2011 has changed me for the better and forever. My trips were both rewarding and educational experiences of a lifetime. I met so many different and wonderful people throughout my travels and incredible only begins to describe my adventures. I am proud to tell everyone how wonderful it is to be a People to People Alumni Ambassador.
In addition to the support I received from my family, friends and community during my fund-raising efforts, I was fortunate enough to have received a $500 People to People scholarship in 2010 and a $1,000.00 People to People scholarship in 2011. Although I did not reach my fund-raising goal each year, the fund-raising aspect made my People to People journey more meaningful and reaffirmed my belief that hard work and commitment do pay off.
After my return from China this summer, my leaders nominated me for the 2011 National Student Ambassador of the Year Award. While there can only be one winner I am thrilled and honored just to have been nominated and I have posted the nomination certificate on my website for everyone to see.
In addition, my leaders encouraged me to apply to travel as a Junior Leader on my next trip. People to People leaders play an important role in the People to People adventure. Our leaders Mayra and Ann, were energetic and enthusiastic and their hard work and dedication continually showed through affording our delegation the best experience possible. It would be an honor to follow in my leader's footsteps and aspire to their level of leadership.
I am excited to share with everyone that I have been accepted by People to People to travel as a Junior Leader during my upcoming July 2012 Mediterranean Traditions trip. I would like to take a moment to say "thank you" to People to People. I am truly humbled by all that they have given to me.
