My name is Erica Criscione, and I am a Fairfield County 4-H member at The Beardsley Zoo where I hold the office of Vice-President.
I am an 11th-grade honor roll student at Jonathan Law High School in Milford, CT. I am a Keyette and I volunteer as a partner in Unified Sports. I am a People to People Student Alumni Ambassador having had the privilege of traveling to Europe in 2010 and China in 2011. I was recently nominated for the 2011 National Student Ambassador of the Year Award. I am excited and honored to be traveling this summer in July 2012 as a Junior Leader on the Mediterranean Traditions trip. The People to People program promotes international understanding while building leadership skills among America’s youth. This unique three week trip includes meetings with government officials, interaction with other students, educational activities, and home stays with host families. I am currently hard at work baking desserts for donations, selling smencils and home made items to help fund raise the $6,499. program tuition which includes my transportation, room & board, plus educational activities . In addition to the high school and college credit I can earn, traveling as a People to People Student Ambassador has changed me for the better and the decisions I make and the way I view things continue to be influenced by my experiences abroad. I am grateful for all the past support I have received from my family, friends, teachers, acquaintances and local businesses and I look forward to their future support. Although I did not reach my fund-raising goal each year, the fund-raising aspect certainly made my People to People experience more meaningful. I know first hand what hard work and commitment it takes to fund raise during the year in addition to school and family obligations and I look forward to the challenge of making my goal this year.
